Week 1: Post Stitches – Textured Fun Square Sampler Blanket Crochet Along (CAL)

Textured Square Blanket Crochet Along Post Stitches

It is here – Week 1 of the Textured Fun Square Sampler Blanket Crochet Along (CAL)! Are you ready for this?? – Today we have the Post Stitches Square!

Like mentioned in my previous post, where I explained everything about the pattern and gave the materials needed, week 1 starts of with the first square pattern. Find the previous posts HERE to find the materials and details of the pattern.

This blanket is named the Textured Fun blanket because of the fun textures in these stitches! They are full of post stitches and cables. In fact, the name of this first week’s square is Post Stitches. It is sows of post stitches lined up on top of each row. This forms bars down the squares.

Also, make sure to see the Instructions post to see how many squares you need to make. I made the throw, which is 56 squares. I made 9 squares in 4 different styles, then 10 squares in 2 styles to equal the 56. I also used 4 different colors of yarn, so I needed 14 squares in each color. You can make the pattern in any size you like.

Pattern Notes

  • Beginning stitch of each square is made with a chainless starting double crochet (CSDC). This technique eliminates any chaining at the beginning of the row and looks just like a regular double crochet. If this is difficult for you, you may replace with a chain 3 to count as the first stitch.
  • Each square measure approximately 7”
  • The photos of the throw size, making 56 squares in 4 different colors of all the stitch variations.

I have been crocheting since I was a child. My huge love for crochet has opened this opportunity to teach others through this blog and online learning.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your creations. ❤️ The instructions look like they are easy to follow. I too learned how to crochet when I was a child and I have been doing it ever since. 4 generations so far. I look forward t trying your pattern. Two questions.. the foundation is made up of the square 1 is how many chains? And are all the squares posted now?

    1. You can replace the foundation row by chaining to the amount listed + 2. DC in 3rd ch from hook and across. Yes, all squares are available. You can also get all the squares together in the PDF link in pattern.

  2. Made my first square! Could you confirm the number of SC for the border? Just want to be sure I’m doing it correctly.
24+24+28+28 + 4 more for each extra corner SC?
    Thanks!! Love the pattern!

    1. I did not count the SC sts around the border. You can correct any unevenness in the squares by blocking.

  3. Just so you know, in your video you say to row 13 and the instructions are to 14. I’ve already crocheted the border for 13 rows, hopefully it’s not too noticeable.
