Learn How to Make a Foundation Single Crochet

Foundation Single Crochet Row

You make have seen my most recent video of the Foundation Double Crochet Stitch. Well another technique that you would love is the Foundation Single Crochet Stitch (FSC).

A foundation row is where you make the chain AND the first row of your work together. This technique would be used when working flat, like blankets, scarves, clothing, etc. No more chaining long rows and miscounting.

If you are looking for a project that uses this technique, check out my Textured Fun Blanket Crochet Along! It is a series of crochet squares that have different fun textures. Those squares are worked then constructed together to make a throw blanket, or any size blanket of your choosing.

To make a foundation single crochet stitch, chain 2. The beginning chain will not count as a stitch. Insert hook in to first chain, pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 1 loop (this makes the chain). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the hook (this makes the single crochet).
