Woodland Mittens Crochet Pattern Child Size

Have you been looking for a simple but beautiful mittens pattern? Well you have came to the right place! The Woodland Mittens Crochet Pattern by Crochet It Creations is a quick, fun project to complete.

Mittens are so cute on those little hands! These are perfect to wear in the cold weather and to play in the snow. They use an H 5.0mm crochet hook, which makes the stitches tighter.

Crochet pattern is for Child Size approximately 6-10 years old. It is worked from the wrist up. Wrist band is made from camel stitch rows worked side ways. The mittens portion is made from half double crochet stitches. They work up fast and are simple to make.

Materials Needed

  • H 5mm Crochet Hook
  • Worsted Weight #4 Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle

Stitches Used/Abbreviations (U.S. Terms)

  • CS – Camel Stitch – Crochet in the back side of the stitch, third loop. This pushes the normal top loops that you would crochet in to the front and creates a chain row in the front of the stitch. This is also called a knit stitch.
  • HDC – Half Double Crochet
  • HDC2TOG – Half Double 2 Stitches Together
  • Sl St – slip stitch
  • Join – Slip Stitch to First St
  • Ch – Chain
  • St(s) – Stitch(es)

Pattern Notes

  • Beginning chain DOES NOT count as a stitch
  • The join will be somewhat visible, to reduce visibility pull your join tight on each round
  • To eliminate join, work in a spiral using stitch marker to make each row.
  • For Fingerless Gloves stop at last round before the decrease, place SC around. Place 1 round (2 on adult size) of HDC on thumb hole, then 1 round of HDC.

I have been crocheting since I was a child. My huge love for crochet has opened this opportunity to teach others through this blog and online learning.

  1. The directions are mixed up. The photo and description say wrist band uses the camel stitch but the written directions say use the HDC.

    1. HDC CS = Half Double Crochet Camel Stich 🙂
