How to Crochet the Bean Stitch

how to make a textured crochet stitch, the bean stitch

Are you interested in learning new crochet stitches? Well, you are at the right spot! Check out the fun Bean Stitch.

You may know the basic crochet stitches like the single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, etc. Well the Bean Stitch is nothing like those. It’s a stitch in itself. It’s a combination of half double crochet stitch and just several loops. You may notice it looks similar to the puff stitch, but is made differently.

This stitch is featured in the Coffee Bean Beanie, which is an adult size slouchy crochet hat pattern. The Bean Stitch is the main stitch in that pattern. I also have the Bean Blanket, which can be made in any size.

Yarn used in video is Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Painted Canyon. Hook used is K 6.5mm Clover Amour.

Steps for the Bean stitch – insert hk (hook) into st (stitch), pull up a loop, y/o (yarn over) and insert in to same st, pull up a loop, y/o and insert hk in same st again, pull up a loop, y/o and pull through all 6 loops on hk, ch 1. (all Bean Stitches are completed with ch 1 after)
