Basket Weave Throw Pillow Crochet Pattern

basket weave throw pillow

The Basket Weave is the 4th Throw Pillow of the Textured Fun Squares. In case you missed it, I created the Textured Fun Square Sampler Blanket (shown below) in 2018. I decided to turn those squares in to matching Throw Pillows. There are 6 squares, so there will be 6 pilllows.

The Basket Weave Throw Pillow Crochet Pattern is for an 18′ square pillow. It is made in 2 panels and crocheted together. I recommend to stuff with a throw pillow insert that is washable. Such as this one from Amazon. As it is crocheted together and will not be able to remove the inside pillow when washing. You can also use Poly-Fil and stuff using a pillowcase or fabric liner.

See the other pillows below

Materials Needed

  • I 5.5mm Crochet Hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 550 yds (per pillow) Medium #4 weight yarn, Big Twist Value Yarn found at JoAnns (100% acrylic, 6oz/170g, 371yds/339m)
  • 6 18” Pillow Inserts (1 for each square) – Machine Washable is Recommended as it will not be removeable
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle

Gauge

  • 4” square = 7.25 Rows x 12.5 DC

Stitches Used/Abbreviations (US Terms)

Pattern Notes

  • Each Square Pattern is for an 18” square pillow insert, however each square will measure approximately 15” and will stretch to fit.
  • Beginning stitch is made with a chainless starting double crochet (CSDC). This technique eliminates any chaining at the beginning of the row and looks just like a regular double crochet. If you prefer, you may replace it with a chain 3 to count as the first stitch.
